Yes, the background J gave about TN is painfully accurate, and yes, I KNEW it was going to be a disappointing night for him from the moment he text me on 12/21 asking if he could join for NYE. Nevertheless, there was absolutely no way to exclude him from our plans when we would have to trapse past his floor on our way out for the night. During the pre-gaming, I had stepped into my room to fix my hair and he followed me in, which I didn’t realize until I turned around and he was looking down at me. He goes “Hey- I didn’t get a chance to tell you yet, but you look really pretty tonight.” Then moves forward with a hug, realizes my shirt was nearly backless, then points that out as well. I then decided my hair was fine and quickly walked back into the common area for a round of shots before heading to Thirsty Scholar.
The Thirsty Scholar was nothing more than conversation amongst each other and a kiss from Ryan (our East Village bartender), but once we got into Solas, which was PACKED with men, it was a different story. We head upstairs immediately, order some drinks, then go back towards the lounge area. Not very long after, I start talking with a group of three guys, decently attractive, but nothing too special. After a while, I began talking with one of them in particular. It was almost midnight by this point, because TN came up to me and said “come with me downstairs so we can see the ball drop on the t.v.” I said “I’ll be down in a few minutes” knowing that unless this tall, cute guy in front of me was going, I wasn’t either, PLUS I didn’t want any type of situation in which TN thought it would be acceptable for him to kiss me. He just looked at me, shrugged, muttered “whatever” and walked off. I did feel a little bad, but as J said, we prefaced it from the get-go that we would be out meeting people. After a few minutes, the nameless guy I was talking to asked if I wanted to grab a drink. Whilst waiting for our drinks at the bar, he leaned down and gave me my {15 minutes late} midnight kiss, however, only a few minutes after we got our drinks, he walked off to go to the bathroom. A free drink, kiss, and then being freed up to meet other boys? That’s my kind of guy. I went to look for Jenn… no such luck. I ventured downstairs, went to the bathroom myself, then intercepted the path of a cute guy on my way out. We both stop where we were, start talking (once again, nameless… yes, I was either THAT drunk or just mentally checked out), and eventually start dancing and making out. Not the classiest of moves, but whatever, it was fun. All of the sudden, I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn and look to find TN, of course. All he said was “we’re leaving. You coming?” Hmmm TN or the cute boy standing in front of me with his hands on my waist and kissing my neck… what would you choose? I didn’t see the expression he was wearing when he walked off, but I’m sure he was mentally proclaiming coming out with us one of the biggest mistakes of 2009.
I continued to be semi-scandalous with this guy for another 45 minutes or so, then realized no one in my group had come up to me in quite a while. I was somewhat tired anyways, so I excused myself, grabbed my things and stepped outside. I text all 3 of them “where?” and immediately heard back from TN. He kept asking me to meet him and A at a bar on 14th, but I didn’t have it in me to stay out for more drinks, so I told him I was already headed home. During the conversation, I was power-walking my way from East Village back to my own ‘hood. Once I hung up with him, I called Jenn and found out she was at home and had been a while. How in the world did that happen?
After I got home, we hung out for a bit, then J said “I’m tired… I’m going to bed and pretending there’s a boy waiting for me in it.” Little did I know there would be a boy in mine a few minutes later that would TRY and sleep there all night. A and TN showed up around 3 with delicious falafel. Yum. The three of us sat on my bed (for lack of anywhere else to eat) and talked for a while. TN finishes his food, then lays all the way down and closes his eyes. Ohhh no, I knew where this was headed. As Adrienne went to the bathroom, I mentioned that we needed to pass out soon and he goes “so I guess that’s my cue to leave?” I just responded “yeah…”. I was under the covers on the other side of the bed at this point, and he climbed over, on top of me, hugged me and kissed my forehead. Luckily I’m writing this on an empty stomach, otherwise I might have just thrown up. Yes, I did feel badly that I’d been somewhat negligent of him throughout the night, but it was NYE… I, in no way, wanted to set the tone for 2010 void of at least one drunken makeout. More to come on the conversation I had with TN a few days later.
