Slothalicious

I’ve more or less spent the past 36 hours indoor due to major snowstorm #3, which has already dumped around 18 inches in the city.  Other than baking chocolate chip banana bread, watching Dawson’s Creek, and doing a little reading, not too much excitement has happened.

Craigslist guy- yes, I was still talking with him up to last night, in hopes that I’d be able to see him face-to-face once more and call him out on the girlfriend thing/tell him to lose my contact info.  Well, we planned for happy hour at 7 last night… not surprisingly, he had a conference call with SF at 8:30, so it’d only last until 8:15.  That was fine with me, but for some reason, the train line I needed to take to Midtown wasn’t running, so by 7:15, when I was still in my neighborhood, I decided to throw the towel in on happy hour.  He kept telling me I should still come and take a cab, even if we’d only have 45 minutes.  I told him I was free all night and that we should meet after the meeting that was supposedly only going to be 45-an hour.  I went back home, chilled with the roomie, then text him when I hadn’t heard back by 9:30… nothing… 10:30:

him: hey, finally out!  Much longer than I expected!

me: Still want to meet up?

him: I’m exhausted… can we do lunch tomorrow?

me: I’m not sure

him: When will you know?

me: Tomorrow

him: Well I could meet anytime during the day.

me: With your odd availability, it’s pretty suggestive that you have a girlfriend to get home to at night.

him: Sadly not

…5 minutes later…

him: More like was engaged, broke it off as she was a total fake that basically wanted to quit work and have me support her. All she wanted was my money. Still dealing with getting all of her shit out of my apartment.

me: So she still lives with you?

him: no, threw her out a few weeks ago. Still have a ton of her shit here though.

Could he shovel anymore shit towards me?  Many, many things I could say in regards to all this, but I’m finally going to leave it alone, even if he emails or texts me again.  It’s sad how deceitful people can be… if they’re still engaged, I hope they honestly break it off before they sign paper and exchange rings, otherwise it’s going to be one unhappy marriage or ugly divorce.

J and I went out this past Wednesday as opposed to Tuesday.  $2 you call it… dangerous.  Instead of drinking beer, I was sipping vodka & diet cokes.  The place was packed, mainly with men, and a decent number of good-looking ones at that.  The Ghost of my Past showed up with a coworker, though luckily he was in and out so fast I almost thought I hallucinated.  An interesting group of guys held our attention for quite some time, during which one drew a portrait of me with a sharpie on a bar napkin.

No, I don’t actually have a lazy eye, ha, though it quite looks like I do in the picture.  He added that note on after I pointed it out to him.  Overall, a very entertaining night.

Sketchy neighbor is having his birthday shindig this Saturday night.  He made the event over two months ago… unless it’s fucking fireworks over Times Square spelling out his name and happy birthday, it’s probably going to be anti-climactic.  He keeps telling J and I how he can’t wait for us to meet his friends and vice-versa… not looking forward to it all that much, but the bar that we’re going to looks good and there will be new people to converse with.  Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

A parent, whose children are a part of the program I manage, always stops and talks to me when she comes in on Saturdays.  Asks about my family, life, etc, very personable and very friendly.  Last weekend she mentioned the church she goes to and the Young Adults group there, suggesting that I check it out.  Well, when I came into work on Tuesday, a manilla envelope was sitting in front of my computer.  I opened it up to find a church bulletin and a note from her.  I called her to thank her for leaving it and she asked if I was going to check out the group this Sunday night.  I couldn’t say no, plus who knows, maybe there will be some friendly people (& cute guys) present.  Hmm… it has been a while since I’ve been to church though… maybe since my Godson’s baptism.  Yes, I have a Godson, meaning I’m supposedly someone’s moral compass.  Scary, huh? :)

The following Sunday, I’m meeting a running group at the Reservoir in Central Park (barring Snowmageddon doesn’t come back to haunt us).  This group sounds perfect!  Nice, fun run, followed by a Sunday afternoon happy hour.  Running + drinking = two of my favorite things!  Not to mention, I’ll meet some like-minded people too.  Very excited about that.

Alright, I’m off to play in the snow with my bff!
